Customer Review: A Naxos Super Bargain
In 35 years of collecting I’ve rarely encountered such a remarkable bargain. This niftily brings together almost all of Leroy Anderson’s ‘greatest hits’ and several pieces which might be new to you. Naxos have been amazingly generous to offer so much music at such a low price and, considering that the orchestra isn’t American, its grasp of the idiom is little short of marvellous. Maybe The Belle of the Ball could have used a slightly lighter touch but the rest of the programme is simply superb. It’s a real indulgence to sit back and hear all the old familiar tunes come tumbling out; the less familiar ones are very enjoyable too. You really must snap this one up–I’d have given it ten stars if I could!
