Run Like Hell (PS2) Customer Review: Potential….
Well the game is entertaining in places. It did have a huge billing on the time of release - and is a let down based on this.

The story line is pretty good and the graphics decent for the time. The game does not disappoint - just the hype.

Personally I would like to see RHL 2 - with the gameplay the decent plot it deserves. This could have being so much better - MAKE THE GAME WE WANT!!
Customer Review: Bad Bad Bad
Okay this game is proberly the worst game on ps2 ive seen in ages the only reason i got this game was the low price and i know low priced games are sometimes not too good but project zero was good and scary @ a low price as well. I would not buy this game if i was you! put it this the gameplay is slow and boring the movie scenes in it are daft and needed to be redone its like a 1973 B-Movie bad bad! the controls are hard to use the camra angels are bad the story line is daft and should be bined i finised this game in 1hour so where does the 30+ hours game time come into it if it where up to me i say burn it :)

Too much on display here is merely clever without really giving the listener space or time to savour what’s occurring.

Impressive, but perhaps too un-showy for a mass audience that likes big voices and big gestures.

Shadow the Hedgehog (PS2) Shadow the Hedgehog is not necessarily the game you’d expect Sega to make after the stunning success of games such as Sonic Heroes and Sonic Mega Collection. Although it looks and plays fairly similarly to the former, albeit with only the one character at a time, it features anti-hero Shadow who instead of offing bad guys with a simple jump on their head is packing what looks suspiciously like a high calibre Desert Eagle pistol.

The image of a Sonic the Hedgehog lookalike using such a realistic piece of hardware is an oddly disturbing one and rather sours initial moments with the game. Luckily though the rest of the game reveals itself to be a more traditionally wholesome title as Shadow runs, jumps and err… shoots his way through levels.

In a nod to games such as Prince of Persia, Shadow can also manipulate time to his advantage and unleash the explosive “Chaos Blast” move. He can also make use of a variety of different vehicles including motorcycles, jeeps and alien spacecraft and pick up and use handy objects like streetlamps as weapons.

The choice of whether to turn to evil during the course of the game seems a bit out of a place for a Sonic game, although its not clear exactly how evil the game actually allows you to get. It’s not exactly GTA: Emerald City but it’s still rather odd to see such an iconic series take such an unwarranted trip to the Dark Side. — Harrison Dent

Customer Review: Shadow
This is a great game. You can use brances, guns, swords and lots more! it has Sonic and all the other teams on sonic heroes. If u want to buy a game get this one
Customer Review: Good game!
Playing as the villain from a series of video games is always fun, and Shadow is no different. With a huge selection of weapons and vehicles in the different level, you can either plough through with a machine gun, or you can race through the level on your own two feet, or in a G.U.N Walker. One of the game’s key features is the two player mode. You can play as two different coloured versions of Shadow, or one of the four robot versions, each with an attached weapon. Depending on the path you take, you can be accompanied by different characters. Only the Hero path is of any use, as you can team up with Sonic’s friends, like Tails and Espio, who can be used by a second player. Eggman’s path uses just a small robot television, which can’t really do anything. Same with the Black Arms, only in this case it’s a floating, tentacled eye. Secret vehicles and weapons can be found on each level, providing you have found the keys dotted around the location. For example, there is a fun military vehicle on the first level. Big and armoured, so you don’t take as much fire from the enemies.
One drawback is the inability to play as other characters than Shadow in the multiplayer mode.

This Is Rock n’ Roll

This Is Rock n’ Roll
The notion that old rockers never die, they just fade away because they can’t think of an ending, is given the lie on This Is Rock ‘n’ Roll, the long-awaited comeback by the Quireboys, rightful heirs to the Faces. Indeed, their songs are tightly structured, so the endings are often as impressive as the beginnings. Occasionally there’s a problem with the bits in between, which go on for longer than some might deem strictly necessary, although the time passes markedly faster if you get out of your seat and dance to it rather than trying to appreciate it on an intellectual level. Vocalist Spike still sounds exactly like Rod Stewart with strep throat, and it can be no accident that Rod’s old keyboard player/songwriter Kavin Savigor has been drafted in to this latest incarnation of the band. Titles such as “This Is Rock ‘n’ Roll” and “It’s Alright” pretty much indicate what the up-tempo tracks are like, while the power-ballads “Searching” and “To Be” strive fairly successfully to capture that over-wrought Guns ‘n’ Roses/Poison/Aerosmith imitation of passion. Buy it now, but strictly on the understanding that only after six beers will it become the greatest rock album in history. –Johnny Black

Customer Review: Okay, but just, okay
I’m an old Quireboys fan and rate “A bit of what you fancy” as one of my all time favourite albums so I really looked forward to hearing this CD. However, I found it a bit disappointing and lacking the real energy that the old QB’s used to have. Spikes still got the gravelly voice and some of the guitar riffs have an almost familiar sound but with the exception of “C’mon” I didn’t find anything memorable in this album. It isn’t a bad album by any means, it is listenable but it’s not as good as some of their old stuff.

Customer Review: Good to see you back!!!!
After years of listening and watching the QB’s in my youth it’s great they’ve returned with an album every bit as good as “A Bit of……”. The lack of production, Spike’s sandpaper voice and good old fashioned 80’s rock make a welcome return on an album with absolutely no clangers. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait as long next time. Welcome back!!

Customer Review: Ground where only few real artists can tread
Don’t think for one minute that you can listen to this album once and appreciate its value. You just can’t. Seldom seen Kid, like the best paintings, like the most challenging of plays needs to be digested, thought about, and with complete pleasure listened to again, and again and again. The more you listen to this album, the closer you get to absorbing what Elbow have done here. They have created a masterpiece. They have created a complete other world in music which captures huge landscapes of northern life through technicolour rose tinted specs, mixed with the bleak concrete of our good northern cities seasoned with the exquisite sensitivity of Guy Garvey’s beautiful lyrics which lift these songs to an utterly different level. The bleak backdrop of his imagination only serves to clarify the vulnerability of human emotions to a level any other songwriter should weep to achieve. “You are the only thing in every room you are ever in” followed by “Is this love” in Starlings is wordsmithing to get down on your knees and pray to. In “One day like this” Guy Garvey gifts us lyrics that run through “If you think I wink I did” to “One day like this a year would see me right”. One day like this is a love song wrung out of the soul of every Northern man hiding his heart so it doesn’t leave him vulnerable. You see, what guy Garvey does is he captures situations, he captures essence, emotions, moments in words and gives us the chance to put ourselves where he was when he wrote them. In Seldom seen kid he gives us the opportunity to look in on ourselves and see. Weather to Fly combines hope, reach, belief, every damn good thing life should be about with the ever present fear of reality which sucks dreams away…..God, every song on this album had depth which would take forever to plumb, like a picture on your wall you never tire of going back to and finding something else in it. Anyone who reviews this album as less than 5 stars just hasn’t listened to it properly. It’s like a seed. Play it, water it with attention and reap its rewards.
Customer Review: If you can’t score 5 stars then don’t write here.
An absolute gem of an Elbow album, to lift you. Buy it and you’ll love it.

Daemon Summoner (PS2) Customer Review: Better than some budget games
Daemon Summoner is actually an average first person shooter that reminded me (very slightly) of Darkwatch. The graphics aren’t that bad and the gameplay is pretty decent too.

The controls are very basic and the first weapon you have fires stakes at a snails pace and means you have to run backwards if you at first miss an enemy.

The Victorian London streets are very well rendered, as are the London sewers (although that part of the game is slightly aggravating as each corner you turn looks the same), but the game creates decent atmosphere when at times you turn corners right into the path of a zombie.

When playing I managed to escape the sewers and then came across two vampires. Each creature is shot according to their lore, i.e. zombies have their heads blown off and vampires are shot in the chest area.

The character you play is tracing his vampiric wife in order to destroy her, but the problem with this game is that the path is not properly laid out for the player and I was left walking round the Victorian London streets trying to locate his former wife, hearing only laughter at certain points. As a result I could not progress with the game and ended up leaving it.

As far as budget games go, this is by far one of the best I have played and I do recommend it if you have a tenner to spare.

Masters of Rock: the Very Best of the Michael Schenker Group

Masters of Rock: the Very Best of the Michael Schenker Group
Customer Review: Great early MSG
It is a common misconception that Michael Schenker went downhill after leaving UFO in 1979. This compilation taken from his first four MSG albums proves the utter falseness of this misconception. Schenker’s ability to combine melody, rhythm, good taste, blistering solos, finesse, construction, layers, and testosterone has never been matched in my view. Listening to Schenker makes you wonder what you were thinking about when you bought rock albums by other groups - he makes almost everybody else sound rubbish by comparison.

This compilation starts out with no less than 5 tracks from Schenker’s debut MSG (Michael Schenker Group) album, which shows just what a hard time the compilers had actually cutting out any tracks from that classic. The second MSG album (MSG) is almost as good as the first, whilst the 3rd (Assault Attack) is possibly even better than the debut album. Admittedly, the 4th MSG album, Built to Destroy, was a little weaker. Also, the track selection on this compilation misses out the best tracks from Assault Attack. Nevertheless, this compilation is a good place to start you off on the early MSG material.

I should note another misconception about Michael Schenker. Some think, ‘well, OK, his early UFO was good and, yes, his early MSG was good too - but after that he lost it’. Complete cobblers. MSG’s 5th album, Perfect Timing, has a good solid West Coast feel, whilst his 6th, Save Yourself, has utterly incredible guitar-work. Admittedly, the 7th (M.S.G.) is poorly mixed, but the 8th, Written in the Sand, is as good as any of the early stuff - possibly better. The 9th, Unforgiven, is darker, technical, and more of a grower, whilst the 10th, Be Aware of Scorpions is a brilliant album. The 11th, Arachnophobiac, has a great bluesy deep south sound, whilst his 12th, Tales of Rock n Roll is, in my view, probably the best MSG album ever. It is fantastic. It should also be noted that Schenker rejoined UFO in 1995 for three albums. The first of these is Walk on Water which, against the misconceptions, is possibly the best ever UFO recording. The second and third albums, Covenant and Sharks are not quite as good, but still very solid. Alongside this, Schenker has done three great covers albums - Endless Jam, Endless Jam Continues, and Heavy Hitters. The first of these is brilliant - unbelievable guitar work. And don’t forget Schenker’s 3 recent electric solo projects - Adventures of the Imagination, The Odd Trio, and Dreams and Expressions - and his 4 recent accoustic solo projects - Thank You Vols 1-4. By the time you get through this lot, you’ll be wondering why you ever listened to anybody else. Schenker has improved with time, and not the other way around. Well, there it is, you can lead a horse to water but…..

Customer Review: You are missing out
Don`t buy this as you are missing out on some magnificent material. This compilation is culled from the first 3 MSG albums and if you like it then you`ll prefer the immaculate must own first 2 albums (Michael Schenker Group and the imaginatively titled MSG) whilst the 3RD album Assault attack is now paired up with the live album as a double pack. Some people need a distillation to weed out the weak material but at this phase of his career every track of those seminal first two albums are classics!
