Born to sing

R&B singer Rihanna has made it to the top of the UK Charts, and has made history doing so. The Barbados-born babe, who was busy performing at Radio One’s Big Weekend in Preston this weekend, scored the success with her single “Umbrella”. What’s special about this achievement is that the single hasn’t even gone on sale in physical format yet - the single is due to be released in stores next week (28th May). However, download sales for this track have been so strong that she was able to knock McFly? from the top spot and soar to number 1 on downloads alone. This is the very first time that this has been done since rules changed to make downloads eligible for the chart. What a success story!
