Customer Review: Worth it…
I recently watched all my favourite Disney films over again…revisiting my not-so-long-ago childhood…and got completely hooked on the tunes. I would go to sleep with an instrumental from Pocahontas in my head and wake up with the Little Mermaid! I needed some closure so I looked for a c.d, especially with some of the instrumentals. Admittedly this c.d isn’t the initial cast recording, which you can tell by the sound clips, and so I was expecting that. Most of the songs are done with a full chorus - songs you wouldn’t think would work with that format, ‘Prince Ali’ for example sounds amazing. It has some of the most beautiful scores, including some at the beginning and end of other songs. The Little Mermaid Introduction and Happy Ending especially are outstanding - the choir is perfect and fitting in the beautiful Beauty and the Beast instrumentals at the front of songs like Be Our Guest is clever and really works. But some of the solo numbers don’t work as well, ‘A Whole New World’ doesn’t sound that great with the two lead singers while ‘Part of your World’ sounds great with just the girl. What can I say? Unless you really loved the Disney music to start off with, you wouldn’t be buying this. If you have a real liking for sweeping orchestral numbers and harmonies then this is the c.d for you. I really love it. The music is beautiful, these people can really sing and I can finally get some closure…
Customer Review: Not the original Recordings
I was disappointed to find that the songs were not the original recordings, the only reason for the two stars is because the production was done well, apart from that not a lot to sing about!

Pop Art: Underground Sounds from the Warhol Era

Customer Review: Pop music sucks! Pop art rocks!
Featuring canonic artists from the Andy Warhol era (Blondie, The Velvet Underground and David Bowie to name a few), this CD is not only great to listen to, but is also educational. Want to know just who those bands are that the music press name check when discussing The Strokes et al? Look no further my friend - The Stooges? Check. Television? Check. We all wish we’d lived in New York during such a creative and frankly rocking period of history, but with this CD we can have a damn good pretend.
Customer Review: does the period justice`
the cd starts off with the classic (and highly influentual) velvets typical sixties track waiting for the man. then it carries on into the spooky voiced nico goes through some high quality songs as i wanna be your boyfriend by the ramones and finishing on lou reed and john cale. brilliant. this cd has got the great tracks of the warhol movement. any indie kids must have!!
