Customer Review: See Them,Feel them ,Hear them.
This is a film of the WHO,with concert footage, family members, recording sessions, interviews etc from the very early days to the present.I found the insights provided by other stars like Sting;U2;Pearl Jam;etc into the music and musicianship of the WHO really worthwhile. To be analysed and dissected by other experts added a very different set of insights into this great band.Sting describing the famous, intricate bass-line of “My Generation”;U2 talking about the the guitar virtuosity of Townsend;the drumming of Moon analysed and reconstructed;and the power chords and how they came to be played on many WHO songs, were amazing to watch and listen to. Some one of these commentators finally summed up the WHO as a band that had a “lead guitarist”;a “lead drummer”,a “lead bassist” and a “lead singer” and somehow it all worked instead of being a mess. What a great description of a great band. Get this dvd and enjoy it and think back to a simpler time.
Customer Review: The Extras are better than most DVDS!
What a great DVD this is. A perfect companion to ‘Kids’ and ‘Maximum RnB’. With most of the footage commercially available I would rather hear some frank and up to date interviews for a change. As I said the extras are great, offering an insight into each individual members playing. I must say that I never realised that Pete Townshend’s playing was influenced by Flamenco but hey, there you go! There’s also the recording session for ‘Real Good-Looking Boy’ which was the first for 23 years. Well worth spending your hard-earned shekels on, a definite 5 stars.

Iggy Pop - Universal Masters Collection Customer Review: Certainly not the best of Iggy but a good snatch from the Universal years
If you want great Iggy, get “Raw Power” or “Fun House” or, of the later stuff, “Brick by Brick” stands out for me. But, unless you’re really wealthy, you just can’t afford to buy all the Ig that’s out there. This is a fair representation of the stuff with Steve Jones, certainly great value in the three for a tenner package.

“High on You” and “Instinct” are great punk pop numbers (with a small p) and the Bowie produced stuff like “Cry for Love” and “Winners and Losers” fit in well. “Easy Rider”, “Tuff Baby” (great riff) and “Hideaway” are also highlights. It’s always difficult putting meaningful compilations together when you’re spoilt for choice but this is excellent value.

Fab Gear Classic Flower Power Pop From The Summer Of Love
Customer Review: Granny takes a trip to get some Fab Gear
The Summer of Love and The Kings Road is awash with the latest fashions. The Streets of London are alive to the Sounds of Flower Pop Pop Music. “Blow up” is just about to be released uncensored and everything is looking groovy. This excellent double C.D. Set compiled by Pete Lawrence of The Big Chill captures perfectly the mood of the times. There is enough great music on both these discs to satisfy anyones interest in the 40th Anniversary of that Golden era. Some songs will be more than familiar, others much less so and that`s what makes this collection such a complete box of delights.

My initial inclination was to buy this set for Mason William`s “Classical Gas” which was an old fave 45rpm. However, there is much more to this than meets the eye at first sight. For instance, for me, the undiscovered gem “Angel of the morning” by Merrilee Rush & The Turnabouts is another example of the diversity of this compilation. The sounds tend to favour melodies and hamonies rather than Psychedelia from the period, although there are some Psychedelic gems, such as “My white Bicycle” and “Incense & Peppermints” thrown in for good measure. This is in essence very happy upbeat music and makes you feel good to have been around at the time. However, if you weren`t that lucky, you can relive the moments with this fine revival collection. There really was “Something in the air” at that time.
