Le Mans 24 Hours
Customer Review: Excellent…..
I bought my PS2 purely for GT3. When I’d worked my way through to 90% complete, I figured I needed a new game. I bought Le Mans 24 Hours, and was not disappointed.
The gameplay is well structured, and you can get straight into a championship without having to waste time working your way through a driving licence. The AI is excellent, and unlike the GT series, the cars don’t just ram into you when they come at you from behind.
A major advantage over GT is that you can save between the races in championship mode, and during the Le Mans endurance style races you can save whilst in the pits. This is especially important as you can race the full 24 hours of Le Mans in real-time!
This rapidly became my favourite game, and still is even though I’ve added Toca Race Driver and F1 Career Challenge to my collection…..I recommend this game for all motor sport enthusiasts & Playstation-Petrolheads!
Customer Review: Le Mans 24hr
On initial playing many people would be put off playing this game further, but with patience this game can really be enjoyed.
The graphics are superb and all of the cars are acurately represented. The weather dynamics are by far the most realistic I have seen to date.
There are 12 International circuits which have been faithfully reproduced, in every sense of the word in terms of gradient and track detail, which some games prefer to leave out.
I think this game can be played by anyone, its not to demanding, however if you prefer to use alot of driving aids then the gameplay can get a little fustrating as the traction control, as in real life cuts the ignition to the engine for that split second on accelarating, personally i prefer to turn these off.
One of the dissapointments for me was the fact that the designers got rid the rev limiter, that was a feature of the previous game on PS1. This takes away for me some of the tactical aspect of the game. However the PS2 game does allow you to choose engines that consume different levels of fuel, which helps to bring back some of that tactical element.
In terms of gameplay, you’ll be playing this game for months such is the depth of the game. Also the game is structured much better than its predecessor, you unlock cars as you progress through the game, bettering your chances of winning Le Mans/Petit Le Mans.
This is a game that will appeal to both Sportscar enthusiasts and the average gamer.
