Rockin’ The Joint: Live at the Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas
Customer Review: “LAZY”
Well having been an avid Aerosmith fan for years I was delighted that a new live album was being realeased, what did we get instead? A lazy, over produced mish mash of old and new songs that none of which stand out as being “exciting or emotional”. How can an Aerosmith Live Album open with “Beyond Beautiful” is way “beyond” me when you consider that this particular track was one of the weaker creations from that very “mediocre” album “Just Push Play”. From then on in this so called “live” event just goes down hill. Steven Tyler delivers as usual but even his colourful language is bleeped out!! This whole affair is totally lacking in colour……….but at least it sold a few hundred copies and keeps the band in a never ending supply of fat cigars. AVOID at all costs if you are a devout Aerohead!
Customer Review: Once again, another live Aerosmith CD…
They seem to make a living out of releasing live versions of their songs, but once again, to the Aerosmith fan, this CD is indispensible.
Obviously taking place in Las Vegas, this live show features songs that are not very well known to the casual music fan. Sure, they sing Walk This Way and I Don't Want To Miss A Thing (both versions one of the better tracks on the album), but the rest of the CD is older, less recognisable songs. If you are a newcomer to Aerosmith, then this CD is probably not the best place to start.
For fans, its great to hear the band play songs they don't usually perform live. Rattlesnake Shake is the stand out on the album, and Joe Perry's instantaneous, improvised solos are a joy to behold.
The album is slightly short, I bet they performed more than 11 songs at the actual show, and the first song is just a Good Evening introduction, not a proper song, but even so, I didn't feel short changed listening to the album. It was a fun, exciting show, and filled with all the Steve Tyler trademarks.
