Neil Young - Friends And Relatives Live From Red Rock Amphitheatre [2000]
Customer Review: simply the best
I feel that this is one of the great concerts of Neil Young’s long career and it’s superbly captured on DVD. Unlike other reviewers I like the CD and even have some affection for the new song Fool For Your Love. Neil and the band are relaxed and determined to enjoy themselves despite the atrocious weather. The set begins badly with the slight Motorcycle Mama but after that it’s pure joy all the way. You even get the previously unreleased and yet excellent Bad Fog of Loneliness. Buy this DVD and ENJOY!
Customer Review: Wet wet wet
Recorded at Red Rocks and, boy, did it rain! A good selection of acoustic and electric music in this video. It’s a pity they didn’t record the entire show and put it out on a double CD,I found the album average! It’s great to hear”Tonight’s the night” performed like the album version and there is some stunning slide guitar by Ben Keith.I also found “Words” better here than it is on “Harvest” and “Powderfinger is as good as usual!
The acoustic songs are all super and a nice surprise is “I believe in you” with Spooner Oldham playing piano. The other acoustic songs are “Unknown legend”,”Daddy went walking” and “Peace of mind”.It’s also good to hear “Walk on” from “On the beach” and a song that’s been kicking about for ages “Bad fog of loneliness”"Cowgirl in the sand”is probably the best song of the set,It’s great watching Jim Keltner,he’s such a brilliant drummer!
Yes,an excellent concert and with the weather being so bad,the class music shines through !
