It Couldn’t Happen Here [1988]
Customer Review: Occaisonally amusing, always bizarre misfire
It’s not as bad Cool as Ice or Spice World, but It Couldn’t Happen Here will not make it to the history books anytime soon as a great cinematic achievement. The Pet Shop Boys can’t act. Neil’s passable, but Chris is uneasy on screen, apparent in the diner scene.
It Couldn’t Happen Here seems to have a loose narrative involving a murderous priest, an existentialist dummy, and an odd pilot. Some of the plot circles around a fictional childhood of the boys. Most of it features Neil and Chris walking around while they are either performing their songs, or their songs play in the background. In this sense, it plays like a long form music video. Some of the imagery is neat, but most of it grows tiresome.
But something about this movie, besides my favorite musicians, has me revisit it. It’s not your typical long form music film. There are scenes that are just bizarre and seem to lack any proper context except in and of themselves. Notable are the conversations with the priest and the boys where he muses about weapons, salvador dali, and being a “bilingual illeterate.” Oddly, these are jokes from comedian Stephen Wright. How they ended up here is an oddity…
More fun and strange though is when Neil and Chris are in a diner and Gareth Hunt brings in a dummy that starts providing a strange philosophy of time. It’s probably lifted from somewhere, but it sounds at home here, once you accept that bizarre seems to be the apt word for this film.
There’s lots of other memorable images: a man on fire, men painted like zebras, and people quoting John Milton. It’s a strange film. It’s not good or great by any means. The mere fact it has the Pet Shop Boys makes it an interest for fans. If you’re in the mood to watch some curious, bizarre cinema, however, you might also find something you like.
Customer Review: It couldn’t happen here, more like it DID happen there!
I’ve seen this film as I owned it years ago and it’s hilarious! There are appearances by Barbara Windsor, Joss Ackland, Gareth Hunt and others!
The scene where Chris Lowe throws a plateful of fried eggs at Barbara Windsor is priceless as they run down her front and the expression on her face is so funny.
Chris and Neil act so laid-back in the film that you’d think they’d fall over and the music is brilliant! Personally, I feel their music was at it’s best when it was in the 80’s.
A cracking film if you are a true and loyal Pet Shop Boys fan and you’ll love Neil in his black mac holding his umbrella and speaking with a cool air about him.
Joss Acklands scene as a psycho passenger rambling on about all sorts of bizarre poetry while sitting in the back of Neil and Chris’s taxi is hilariously funny and one of my favourite scenes.
But the best laugh in the film which cracks both Neil and particularly Chris up with laughter is the scene in the cafe’ with Gareth Hunt ordering beans, more beans, and a side order of beans.
Surreal, but great stuff! The music rocks too!

Kate Bush - The Whole Story [1986]
Customer Review: Kate unusual Bush - Pity about the revamping of Wuthering Heights
Great album with all my favourite tracks. How disappointed I was though with the revamped new vocal for Wuthering Heights. It was overproduced too much backing and Kate’s voice dare I say did sound rather tinny and harsh.
The rest of the tracks are super Cloudbusting is great and all my old favourites.
I must track down the original wuthering Heights as I have them all on vinyl but not CD.
Customer Review: Pretty Good Album!
OK, Kate Bush has never really been one of my favorite singers and her latest album is just so bad but “The Whole Story” is a fine collection of her work and i must admitt, it is worth a place in a CD collection. The best songs here are, “The Man With The Child In His Eyes”, “Hounds Of Love”, “Running Up That Hill” and “Babooshka”.
While, I don’t believe that this album is one that i could play again and again, it’s worth the occasional listen with the skipping of a few tracks. Of course, if your a big Kate fan that likes the songs i consider to be poor - you’ll get even more enjoyment from it.

Bette Midler - Diva Las Vegas [1997]
Customer Review: If you like Miss Midler then Buy it!!
fabulous show which is very enjoyable but it is not all about the ballads!! although there are plenty in there for good measure, it demonstrates her versatility and skill as an entertainer.,
it is simple if you like her, buy it!!
(be warned though there is some infrequent bad language and sexual reference, but it is not highly offensive)
Customer Review: Great Video worth buying
I was luck enough to obatin this video, in an american format made only for people who are voting on the emmy awards. I only wish this video was made in the United States for purchase either in DVD or VHS.
This was from Bette Midler Las Vegas act in the late 90’s. She plays all her good songs, Wind Beneth my wings, The Rose, Friends, Chapel of Love. In addition to Bette’s songs, she ventures into this comedy reutine as Mermaid Lounge Singer Dolores DeLago. This section of the tape is reason enough to buy,she is so funny.
AND… if that wasn’t enough she has a whole musical medely entitled “I look good”. What else could you ask for?

Wii Rock Band Band In The Box (Wii)
Customer Review: Rock band rocks
If you have ever tapped your fingers to a song you have to try rock band drums. They are as close to a real drum kit you can get without buying a real one. The songs at the beginning are easy enough for most people then gradually get harder and harder to challenge everyone. If you have a full band of four people you need quite a big tv to see your part clearly. I bought the Wii rock band but used to play guitar hero on play station 2. They are both well made but I like the graphics of the play station more. I would recommend rock band.
Customer Review: band in a box….
well…
i purchased this around two weeks ago,
it has good and bad points too it.
Its a fantastic laugh! especially when there are a few of you playing..
its multiplayer.. so your friends wont feel left out, plus you wont feel like an idiot playing alone ![]()
it does hurt your hands after a while but thats to be expected lol!
Only two bad things to say about this overall,it doesn’t come with the game, and you only get provided with one guitar, other than that i would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys having a good laugh! ![]()
